About Baltimore Homeless Resources (Maryland)

There was a time when I called the cold steps of the Enoch Pratt Library at Central & Orleans my bed. I know what it means to be hungry in a city full of food, and to be cold in a city full of buildings.

“I have been clean since October 8, 2018. This guide is my way of giving back. Every resource here is a door that I hope stays open for you.”
— Patrick Ruble

Who I Am

My name is Patrick Ruble. I am a Maryland native who has spent a significant portion of my life in Baltimore City. I’ve experienced homelessness, recovery, and the challenges that come with trying to rebuild stability from the ground up. This project is built from both lived experience and ongoing research to make sure the information here is practical, accurate, and usable in real-world situations.

Why This Exists

Baltimore has no shortage of help — shelters, food programs, outreach centers, and recovery resources exist all over the city. The problem is that when you're in the middle of it, that information is scattered, outdated, or nearly impossible to find at the moment you actually need it.

This guide was created to solve that problem. Everything here is organized, simplified, and designed to help you quickly figure out your next step — whether that’s finding a meal, a shower, a bed, or a path forward.

Built From Real Experience

This isn’t just a list pulled from Google. Many of the places listed here are places I have personally been to — places where I ate, showered, received help, or tried to get back on my feet.

I know what it’s like to miss a shelter intake time and have nowhere to go. I know what it’s like to walk miles just to find a meal or a place to sit inside. I know how important it is to know where to go next — without guessing.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Shelters and transitional housing
  • Free meals and food programs
  • Showers, clothing, and hygiene resources
  • Job programs and re-entry support
  • Transportation help like the Charm City Circulator

The Goal

The goal of this site is simple:
